physical therapy developments

Collin had a couple more appointments this week.. first we met with his physical therapist and he is doing very well so far!  At our first visit he could not track (follow toys) really at all, now he does such a great job!  Watch video for example :)  He was tending to favor one side of his head but after just 2 days of practicing with him he will turn his head fully from side to side to follow toys!  He also does pretty well during tummy time and he can lift his head.  His legs are a little stiff, so we will be doing some exercises to make him a little more flexible. She will continue to see him once a week to make sure he is continuing to develop his skills.

At the pediatrician Collin got two immunization shots :(  Its so sad to see him poked after a month of no needles and things!  But he handled it well and calmed right down as soon as I picked him up and gave him a hug!  He's such a little trooper.   He weighed in at 12 pounds and was 23 inches!   After seeing the pulmonologist last week we know his lungs are doing well, and the pediatrician agrees they sound clear. but he's had some heavy breathing/wheezing and it sounds like upper respiratory, so we got a referral to a nose and throat Dr. to see what is going on with that.  we'll keep you updated as soon as we know!

Updates..

Hello Everyone.. Sorry it has been awhile since our last post...we have been busy keeping up with the little guy :)    It's been such a joy to be home and he has adjusted well, (and so have we!)   He fits right into our life perfectly, the way we always imagined it!!    We are SO lucky to have such a good baby!  He rarely cries, only for good reason like when he is hungry or needs a diaper change.  He's been eating every 3 hours usually during the day and overnight he will sleep for 4 hours :)

This past week we went to 2 appointments the first one was to the Eye Dr. who said....He doesnt need to see him anymore :)  Looks like his retinas have fully developed and look good!   We did however, get a referral to a pediatric opthamologist to check on him in a few months.  The reason for that is, it is very common for preemies to have a weak muscle and can develop a lazy eye.

Our Pulmonology appointment went very well!   We were given the official word that Collin no longer needs to be on oxygen!! YAY!!   They said he looks fantastic, and would never know looking at him that he was a 25 weeker!  His length was 22.5 inches and he weighed in at 11 pounds 6 oz :)  They judged him by his corrective age (1 month old, not 4 which is actual age) and he made the growth charts in the 90th percentile :)
